MEMORIAL PARK - 5TH & LITTLE STREETS
City maintained - largest and primary city park covers approximately twelve city blocks with 4 entrance roads from surrounding neighborhoods. Daily use by overall population and for special events, such as Festival in the Park, Run for the Mums, private parties, athletic events, and polling place. Facilities/Equipment/Features: Signs at entrance to park Cushing Youth and Community Center Cushing Day Care Facility (fenced with own playground equipment) Creek with bridges Fenced duck pond with duck shelter, benches, and statue (fishing) Three Pavilions with charcoal grills and picnic tables Lighted softball field with dugouts and bleachers Little league baseball field Eight lighted tennis courts (also used by schools for tennis program) Amphitheater (A Geographic Club Project) Basketball Court Horseshoe Pits Public Restroom facility Girl Scout Hut (fenced) Numerous park benches Numerous water hydrants Numerous trash containers Playground Equip. (includes 2 handicapped accessible items) Fenced sandbox with toys Log Cabin Building (with kitchen facilities for private parties meetings, etc. - also the are polling place) New electrical outlets for special events Swimming pool (one of only two above ground pools in the state) January 1998 the public voted to replace this above ground pool with a modern water park. ODOM PARK - 5TH & WILSON STREETS City maintained. Used mainly as practice field for city's Little Leagues Facilities/Equipment/Features: Creek borders west side Two wire backstops on practice fields small size limits the addition of playground equipment Near memorial and Rotary Parks (where additional facilities are) ROTARY PARK - 9TH & HIGHLAND STREETS City maintained - improvements & equipment added by civic clubs Daily used by children and neighborhood families Facilities/Equipment/Features: Concrete creek runs through park Two Gazebo - Type Pavilions with built-in tables and benches One charcoal grill Two picnic tables Two water hydrants Two new trash containers Two swing sets (4 swings on each)v Two pieces of multipurpose playground equipment Two park benches Rotary International sign displayed LIONS PARK - 13TH & LINWOOD STREETS City maintained ball park with daily and seasonal use of ball diamonds Facilities/Equipment/Features: Two baseball/softball fields (one field has lights) Bleachers & Dugouts for each field One practice field One concession stand with plumbing & electrical Public restroom Sign at entrance to park KEMP PARK - 900 BLOCK EAST OAK City maintained. Daily neighborhood use and seasonal use as practice soccer field. East Oak and Independence area has lots of children who play there. Facilities/Equipment/Features: One swing set One teeter totter One merry-go-round One jungle gym One monkey bar One small basketball court (2 goals) One soccer practice field with wire goals JAYCEE PARK - 100 BLOCK S. TIMBERRIDGE DR. No existing facilities on this city maintained land. Nice mowed grassy area not utilized as a park. This area (near Cushing High School and Valley Hope Rehabilitation Center) has an apartment complex, low-income housing, and senior citizen housing. It is not within easy walking distance to other city parks. The neighborhood needs to have some facilities installed similar to those in the other small city parks. BROADWAY PARK - 1200 BLOCK EAST BROADWAY City maintained. Neighborhood use. Facilities/Equipment/Features: One swing set (5 swings attached) Four teeter totters One monkey bar One concrete picnic table with concrete benches One charcoal pit One water hydrant Small creek NORTHWEST PARK - LUELLA & MAPLE STREETS City maintained - large, hilly park. Neighborhood use and seasonal use of Little League practice fields. Facilities/Equipment/Features: Nice sign at entrance Partial sidewalk throughout park Large gazebo-type pavilion Two charcoal grills One picnic table Three wire backstops on practice field One swing set (with 6 swings) One merry-go-round Four horseshoe pits Small creek with bridge RODEO ARENA - PINE & LINWOOD STREETS Maintained by Rodeo Committee - duties shared by city. Used for annual rodeo sponsored by the community. Facilities: Fenced arena Stock pens Bleachers on both sides of arena Announcer's booth with public address system Concession stand Public Restrooms HEMPHILL PARK - 1500 BLOCK NORTH CLEVELAND City maintained - major park in large neighborhood. Daily use of facilities except unusable swimming pool. Seasonal use of practice field by city Little Leagues and community. Facilities/Equipment/Features: One lighted basketball court One lighted basketball/tennis court combined Two teeter totters One merry-go-round One pavilion with 6 picnic tables One charcoal grill One sandbox One ball diamond with wire backstop & bleachers Practice field with backstop Park benches Two water hydrants Two signs with park name CITY LAKE - SIX MILES WEST OF CITY City maintained - patrolled daily by lake ranger. Weekly use: camping, boating, fishing, hunting. Facilities/Equipment: One camping area Four picnic tables Six park benches One boat ramp and dock Men's and Women's restrooms Duck blinds (privately owned/fees paid to city) |
