Box 311 (918) 225-2394 On July 16, 1929, the Cushing voters approved the Commission/Manager form of government, thus becoming one of Oklahoma's first commission/manager governments. The City Commission consists of five commissioners elected by position for three year staggering terms. The City Commission is vested with all the powers of the City of Cushing and retains the services of a City Manager, as Chief Executive Officer, to organize and operate the City on a day-to-day basis. The City Government is a sophisticated, complex industry in itself. The Community is served by a full-time police and fire/EMT ambulance service. Emergency calls are handled through the City's 911 emergency system. The City's fire insurance rating is a Class 6. The City generates and distributes its own electrical energy. Through the City's sales tax, Cushing has constructed a four-story modern hospital, a 21,075 square feet Community Center, and made major capital improvements to its water, waste treatment and transportation systems in addition to supporting general local government services. There is currently no city ad valorem tax or earnings tax. Actual current property tax rate for the county and school districts is available upon your request.
